A CITY IN THE PONDEROSA PINE & BUNCHGRASS ZONE

The city of Vernon lies at the north end of the near-desert environment of the Okanagan Valley in south-central British Columbia. Located in the rain shadow resulting from Pacific air passing over the coastal mountain ranges to the west, the dry regional habitat is known as the Ponderosa Pine & Bunchgrass Zone and extends across the southern portion of the BC Interior.
