PROTECTED AREAS

Riparian areas offer a mixture of observations. In some places where creeks pass through town, they are messy and filled with the accidents of rubble and debris from years of being ignored and taken for granted. In other areas, they are being carefully tended with stream bank protection and sensitive plantings by community groups. To the great credit of the local naturalists’ club, large areas of wetland have been protected and sensitively developed for wildlife habitat and public viewing.
