RUSTIC WILDLIFE

Stately Ponderosa Pines remain scattered throughout Vernon, serving as wildlife hosts and bringing the sense of rustic forest life to the doorsteps. It is common to hear the cries of Great Horned Owls at night and Red-tailed Hawks during the day. Also within the city are natural dryland parks with much exposed rock, grassland vegetation, and near-desert zones hosting cactuses, dryland shrubs, and associated flora and fauna.
